The number of e-health cards issued to parents of newborns increased by 12.3 percent in Azerbaijan in 2017 compared to the figure in 2016, the Health Informatization Center of the Azerbaijani Health Ministry told Trend Jan. 8.
According to the Health Informatization Center, the number of e-health cards issued in 2017 increased by 135,488 and reached 1,234,465.
Moreover, since early 2018, the Center has issued 13,470 e-health cards to the patients with diabetes mellitus who receive free medicines. In total, 99,977 e-health cards were issued to the patients with diabetes mellitus.
E-health cards contain information about the identity of the card holder, medical and social insurance and other data. Information is included in a single database of medical institutions through a local network.
