Kazakhstan hopes to resume flights with all countries by the end of the year, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev told Trend.
According to Lastayev, nine airlines (Aeroflot, Belavia, LOT, WizzAir, Finnair, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Air Astana) carried passengers from Kazakhstan to Europe before the COVID-19 pandemic. Now these flights are being gradually restored.
Thus, Wizz Air Abu-Dhabi plans to open flights from Abu Dhabi to Nur-Sultan and Almaty (two flights a week for each direction) from October 31, 2021.
Also, Qatar Airways will open the Almaty-Doha route from November 19, also with a frequency of two flights a week. Regular flights will resume on the Almaty - Male (Maldives) route.
"We hope that within a year, if the situation with COVID-19 improves, air traffic with all countries will be restored," Lastayev said.
