BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 22. Azerbaijan imported a total of 91,838 units of various motor vehicles (a 4.31 percent decline) worth $1.8 billion in 2024.

Data obtained by Trend from the country's State Customs Committee shows that the import of motor vehicles designed to transport 10 or more people, including the driver, surged by 2.48 times in 2024, reaching 405 units with a total value of $68 million, reflecting a 6.96-fold increase.

Meanwhile, the import of passenger cars and other vehicles primarily designed for transporting passengers decreased by 6.49 percent, totaling 82,434 units valued at $1.5 billion, which still marked a 3.38 percent increase in value.

Among these, 26,197 units (worth $679.4 million) were vehicles equipped with both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. Additionally, 3,027 units (a 2.42 percent decline) valued at $121.6 million (a 2.92 percent decrease) were electric-only vehicles.

Furthermore, truck imports rose by 15.69 percent, totaling 8,430 units worth $141 million, which represents a 22.26 percent increase in value. Imports of specialized motor vehicles also saw significant growth, rising by 53.8 percent to 569 units, valued at $68.4 million, marking a 70.27 percent increase in value.
