ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 31. The volume of investments in fixed assets in the tourism sector amounted to 390.5 billion tenge (about $821 million) from January through June 2024, Trend reports.
According to the Government of Kazakhstan, the volume of investments has doubled compared to the first half of 2023.
In the tourism sector, 61 infrastructure projects are at the implementation stage for a total of 399.8 billion tenge (about $840 million).
At the same time, this year, as part of state support, subsidies of costs in the field of inbound tourism were approved based on applications from tour operators, as well as the KidsGoFree program (subsidizing the cost of a ticket included in a tourism product for the air transportation of underage passengers in Kazakhstan). As of July 1, 223 applications for 518 children were approved in the amount of 28.2 million tenge (about $59,000).
In addition, the state approved the reimbursement of part of the costs for the construction and reconstruction of tourist facilities and the reimbursement of part of the costs for the construction of roadside service facilities.
Furthermore, at the end of last year, 117 new tourist sites worth 57 billion tenge (about $127 million) were opened in Kazakhstan. There are 297 investment projects at the implementation stage for a total of 433 billion tenge (about $965 million). With their 100 percent implementation, it is planned to create 7,647 jobs, with 3,219 permanent jobs and 4,428 temporary jobs. By the end of 2024, it is planned to complete 148 projects totaling 246 billion tenge (about $548 million). These projects will create 2,457 jobs.
