BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, November 25. The Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund (RKDF) has financed the modernization of the locomotive fleet and the establishment of an in-house rolling stock repair facility for the Kyrgyz Railway National Company, Trend reports.

As a result of this project, the company will be able to perform a full range of locomotive repairs, including major overhauls. This will significantly reduce repair times and costs while ensuring high-quality service.

"This project is an important step toward Kyrgyzstan's transport independence. Thanks to the support of President Sadyr Zhaparov, Kyrgyz Railways has already made significant upgrades to its repair workshops. This RKDF initiative will allow the company to fully meet its repair needs with its own facilities, cutting repair times from six to three months and reducing costs by more than half," said Artem Novikov, Chairman of the RKDF.

It was noted that Kyrgyz Railway plays a crucial role in Kyrgyzstan's transport system. It is under the control of the Kyrgyz government and the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Established on November 24, 2014, the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund has financed over 3,400 projects over the past decade, with a total investment of $727.5 million.
