The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan has been instructed to create an information system by the end of the year that will monitor three million hectares of irrigated land, with a database on soil composition and crops, Trend reports citing the press service of the president of Uzbekistan.
During a video conference held by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, tasks in agriculture and water management for 2021 were discussed.
Thus, this year it is planned to increase the income from each hectare to $5,000 through rational placement and scientifically based cultivation of crops.
"From March 1, the term of loans allocated under family business programs for gardens, vineyards and greenhouses will be increased from three to seven years, and the grace period - from one to three years," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Also, this year it was instructed to provide agricultural enterprises with 702,000 tons of seeds and 105 million seedlings.
The presidential press service noted that the lack of a system in this agriculture field creates difficulties for both the population and exporters. The quality of the varieties and the ripening time of the products do not allow them to occupy a leading position in foreign markets.
In this regard, the Mirzaev Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking of the National Center for Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation and its research and experimental stations will organize the procurement of high-yielding export-oriented fruit and grape seedlings on the basis of public-private partnership.
For this purpose, intensive nurseries will be created on an area of at least 100 hectares in each region in accordance with soil and climatic conditions. It was noted that when buying seeds and seedlings from local seed farms, up to 20 percent of the cost will be compensated by the state.
In addition, the part of the cost of building lemon greenhouses using energy from alternative sources will be reimbursed.
Also, this year, 24 trillion soums ($2.3 billion) will be allocated to the Agricultural Fund to provide the agricultural sector with financial resources. At the same time, for the first time, it is planned to allocate 300 billion soums for issuing loans for growing vegetables at the base rate of the Central Bank.
The president also emphasized the need to study the experience of the US in the field of growing melons and vegetables, the UK - in harvesting fruits, Austria - in the field of grain growing, the Netherlands - in the field of plant protection, Germany - in the field of plant nutrition and cell biology.
