BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. Electricity production at Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant in northern Iran's Qazvin province increased by 5.15 percent during the ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025) compared to the same period last year (from, March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), the Director of the Shahid Rajaee TPP Abolfazl Mutabha told reporters, Trend reports.
According to Mutabha, Shahid Rajaee TPP has produced about 10.8 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during ten months.
Mutabha added that 5.13 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in the mentioned amount were produced in steam units and 5.65 billion kilowatt hours in combined cycle units.
The director pointed out that in total, Shahid Rajaee Thermal Power Plant can produce 12 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. This plant provides 3.5 percent of the country's electricity.
Meanwhile, a total of 13 sections are installed at the Shahid Rajaee thermal power plant. Four of them are steam units with a capacity of 250 megawatt hours, and the rest are combined cycles. As many as 2,040 megawatts of electricity can be generated from this plant.
Iranian thermal power plants produced more than 300 million megawatt hours of electricity during the ten months.
To note, Iran's electricity production potential is 93,455 megawatts. The production potential of Iran's thermal power plants is 76,257 megawatts; the production potential of hydroelectric power plants is 12,144 megawatts; the production potential of retail power plants is 2,485 megawatts; the production potential of renewable power plants is 1,450 megawatts; the production potential of the Bushehr nuclear power plant is 1,020 megawatts; and the production potential of diesel units is 408 megawatts.
