BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. Iran's imports from Azerbaijan fell by 33.7 percent in value and 37.1 percent in weight in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024).

Data obtained by Trend from Iran's Customs Administration indicates that the country imported goods worth $31.3 million, totaling around 12,800 tons, from Azerbaijan in 2024 ($47.2 million, 20,400 tons).

According to the data, the main products imported from Azerbaijan included various equipment, compressed soybeans, different types of profiles, and other goods.

In the broader context, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with Azerbaijan reached an estimated $712 million, weighing about 872,000 tons. This represents a 6 percent increase in value and a 9.4 percent increase in weight compared to the previous period.

Additionally, Iran's Customs Administration reported that overall, Iran imported goods worth $72.3 billion, totaling approximately 39.3 million tons. This represents a 7.22 percent increase in value, although there was a slight decrease of 1 percent in weight compared to the previous year.

Iran strategically emphasizes the procurement of critical commodities to satisfy internal demand and has instituted specific regulatory constraints on the importation of items that are concurrently produced domestically.
