BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 7. The value of sales on the Iranian Energy Exchange (IRENEX) decreased by 50.5 percent, amounting to 42.9 trillion rials (about $68.3 million) in the last Iranian week (May 31-June 4), down from 86.7 trillion rials (about $138 million) recorded during the previous period..
Data obtained by Trend from IRENEX shows that the exchange sold about 66,500 tons of hydrocarbon products, amounting to about 19.2 trillion rials (about $30.6 million). Of this, the international board accounted for sales worth nearly 11 trillion rials (about $17.5 million) with 37,500 tons of product sold. The domestic board saw 29,000 tons traded at a value of 8.25 trillion rials (about $13.1 million).
Additionally, 10.3 trillion rials (about $16.3 million) worth of electricity, totaling 541 million kilowatt-hours, was sold during the same period. Other sales at the exchange amounted to approximately 13.4 trillion rials (about $21.3 million).
The sale of hydrocarbon products on Iran's Energy Exchange is of enormous importance. Through the exchange, the country is trying to provide hydrocarbon products needed by local companies, as well as increase exports.
