The number of foreign aircraft using Iranian airspace has increased, Ahsan Alavi, Deputy Chairman of the Development Committee of the Iranian Parliament, said in his statement published on the Iranian Parliament's website, Trend reports.
Alavi said that many airline companies have appealed to the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran to use Iranian airspace, adding that the observed rise in the number of appeals made is due to the recent conflict between India and Pakistan.
"Therefore, the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran must immediately make use of the current state of affairs by making deals with countries and airline companies, and take steps for profiting from the passage of foreign aircraft through the Iranian airspace," he said.
The deputy chairman said that the Iranian airspace has become an appealing region for the passage of foreign aircraft and airline companies are interested in it.
According to international laws, each aircraft must pay about $60 for a 160-km flight in the Iranian airspace.
