Some 800 billion rials (about $19 million) have been allocated for the construction of Sari station generating energy from waste in Sari county of Iran's northern Mazandaran province, Deputy Governor of the province Mehdi Razchuyan said.
About 600 billion rials (about $14.2 million) of the funds were allocated by the government, while 200 billion rials (about $4.7 million) was provided by the mayor’s office of Sari county, Razchuyan added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
The deputy governor added that the lack of funds is the main problem hampering the modernization of the Sari station.
“The non-commissioning of the Sari station has created great problems for the region,” Razchuyan said. “Therefore, the construction of this station must be completed soon.”
In 2009, a decision was made in 2009 to build the station in Sari county of Mazandaran province and put it into operation during two years.
For a number of reasons, this project was suspended until 2013. The current Iranian government has invested 1.8 trillion rials (about $42.8 million) in the project so far.
The construction of the station has been completed by 60 percent and the equipment has been installed by 30 percent. The station is expected to be commissioned next spring.
