Türkiye reports increase in passenger traffic at its Van airport

BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. The metric indicating passenger arrivals at Türkiye's Van Airport in December 2024 demonstrated a 5 percent uptick relative to the corresponding timeframe in 2023, culminating in a total of 1.6 million individuals, Trend reports via Türkiye's Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

According to the ministry, in December 2024, the airport's passenger traffic on domestic flights increased by 5 percent compared to the same period of 2023 and reached 1.6 million people, and on international flights, it increased by 70 percent and amounted to 5,217 people.

The airport's cargo traffic in December 2024 stood at 15,986 tons, an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period in 2023. In December 2024, the airport's cargo traffic on domestic flights increased by 8 percent compared to the same period in 2023 to 15,906 tons, and cargo traffic on international flights increased by 23 percent compared to the same period to 80 tons.

The information indicates that the number of flights from the airport in December 2024 increased by 11 percent compared to December 2023 and stood at 19,821. At the same time, the number of domestic flights increased by 11 percent to 19,728, while the number of international flights increased by 43 percent to 93.

Furthermore, passenger traffic at all airports in Türkiye in December 2024 amounted to 220.9 million people, and cargo traffic to 4.9 million tons.

To note, in 2023, the aggregate passenger throughput across all airports in Türkiye reached a substantial figure of 117.9 million individuals, while the cargo volume registered an impressive total of 2.4 tons.
