BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Azerbaijan has brought in a hefty load of cotton seeds, tipping the scales at 2,576 tons from a variety of corners of the globe in 2024.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee indicates that the import value of this quantity amounted to approximately $7.6 million.
Moreover, cotton seed imports to Azerbaijan saw a decline of 242 tons compared to 2023, reflecting an 8.6 percent decrease in volume and a reduction of $700,000, or 8.4 percent, in value. In 2023, the country imported a total of 2,818 tons of cotton seeds, valued at $8.3 million.
The majority of the imported cotton seeds came from Türkiye in 2024, which contributed to almost all of the imported amount with 2,575 tons. Additionally, Uzbekistan exported 100 kilograms of cotton seeds valued at $300, while Israel provided 350 kilograms, amounting to $5,600.
In the same period, Azerbaijan's cotton seed exports amounted to approximately 68 tons, valued at $12,100, with Türkiye being the primary recipient of these exports.
