ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 12. Representatives of the railways of Kazakhstan, China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, and Türkiye discussed the development of the Eurasian transport corridor, Trend reports via Kazakhstan Railways.
According to the information, in Iran’s Tehran, the delegation of Kazakhstan Railways, led by Deputy Chairman for Logistics Yerlan Koishibaev, participated in a six-party meeting.
“The event was an important step in developing multilateral cooperation to form an efficient transport corridor from China – Kazakhstan – Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran – Türkiye/Europe. A clear confirmation of the demand for this route was the 2.6-fold increase in container shipments on the China–Iran route via Kazakhstan from January thrugh April 2025 compared to the same period last year,” the statement says.
The negotiations also involved Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development, General Director of Iranian Railways Jabbari Ali Zakeri, General Director of the State Corporation "Chinese Railways" Sun Xude, as well as deputies from the railway administrations of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Türkiye.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on joint actions to activate container transportation on this route. The parties confirmed their readiness to provide comprehensive support to promote the corridor in the international transportation market.
