BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. Azerbaijan transported 55.6 million tons of cargo by rail over the past three years.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee shows that this figure totaled 18.7 million tons in 2022, 18.3 million tons in 2023, and 18.6 million tons in 2024.
During the triennial interval, the rail freight throughput
experienced a contraction of roughly 165,100 tons, equating to a
decrement of one percent.
During the specified timeframe, rail freight turnover experienced a
contraction, decreasing by 69.6 million ton-kilometers, equating to
a one percent reduction—transitioning from 7.09 billion
ton-kilometers in 2022 to 7.03 billion ton-kilometers in 2024.
In the interim, from January through May 2025, 7.1 million tons of cargo were transported by rail in Azerbaijan, which is 0.6 million tons, or 7.8 percent, less than in the same period last year.
