BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 20. The total value of loans extended by banks and financial institutions to startup companies in Iran surged by 84.2 percent in the fourth month of the current Iranian year (from June 22 through July 22, 2025), compared to the same month last year (from June 21 through July 21, 2024).
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) shows that 1,230 startups received credit worth 514 trillion rials (about $891 million) in this period, up from 747 startups receiving 279 trillion rials (about $484 million) during the same month last year.
State-owned banks provided 84.7 trillion rials (about $147 million) in credit to startups, while non-state banks and financial institutions issued 429 trillion rials (about $744 million).
Over the first four months of the year, Iranian banks have extended credit to 1,588 startups totaling approximately 1.46 quadrillion rials (about $2.5 billion).
