ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 3. Kazakhstan is moving to strengthen the legal framework for cryptocurrency payments and the operation of crypto exchanges, aiming to implement these changes by the end of 2025, Janel Aitkazy, Lead Project Manager at National Payments Corporation, said in a statement to Trend's special correspondent.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Digital Bridge 2025 forum, Aitkazy explained that all сryptocurrency payment initiatives are currently being tested in a regulatory sandbox, while the unified QR payment standard was officially launched on September 30.
“A unified QR will allow customers to pay for purchases through a single code, regardless of the bank, while merchants can work with one bank instead of managing multiple agreements,” Aitkazy said.
She also noted that a crypto-enabled QR system is being developed to allow foreigners to pay for goods and services directly from crypto wallets without needing to exchange currency.
