Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev signed the law On Ratification of the International Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations, the presidential press service reported on Monday.
The law is developed in connection with signing of an agreement on Dec. 9, 2010 on common regulatory principles for the protection of intellectual property within the Customs Union of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus and Common Economic Space of these countries, which envisage Kazakhstan's commitment to join the Rome Convention.
Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers of Phonograms and Broadcasting Organizations dated Oct. 26, 1961 is aimed at regulating cultural rights and relations on intellectual property among sovereign states.
