Kazakhstan's Agriculture Minister Umirzak Shukeyev and Chairman of China's Main Customs Administration Ne Yefeng signed a protocol on phytosanitary requirements for the export of rapeseed meal to China.
The protocol was signed within the framework of the SCO member states' conference on combating and monitoring transboundary epizootic diseases, the Ministry said in a message.
During the conference, the Chinese side declared the recognition of the status of zones free from foot and mouth disease for 5 regions of Kazakhstan (East Kazakhstan, Almaty, Zhambyl, Kyzylorda and South Kazakhstan), which makes it possible to supply Kazakh livestock products to China.
China also lifted restrictions on nodular dermatitis from all over Kazakhstan and plans to sign a protocol on veterinary requirements for beef exported from Kazakhstan to China in the near future.
In 2017 the trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $345 million, up by 32 percent compared to 2016 ($261 million).
Export of Kazakh agro-industrial complex to China amounted to $180.5 million, increasing by 34.3 percent (from $134.4 million).
