Two ships from India and UAE have harbored at Chabahar Port in Iran, carrying detergents, wheat and kitchenware, said the Managing Director of Ports and Maritime Organization in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Behrouz Aghaei.
"Two transit ships have arrived at Chabahr Port carrying container goods from ports in India and the UAE, that would be sent to Afghanistan," said Aghaei, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The following ships carried 666 containers including kitchenware, detergents and wheat. It has been forecast that cargo transit through Chabahar port would continue to grow due to its low costs and special discount offers for merchants and cargo owners," he said.
"Establishing proper port infrastructure and offering special incentives have turned Chabahar Port in to an important port with low costs that would allow other countries have expanded access to each other," he said.
"The port's location has attracted domestic and foreign investors to invest in cargo transfers. The Chabahar Port offers incentives and modern equipment to investors, cargo owners and shipping companies," he said.
"The 30 percent discount on Terminal Handling Charges(THC) for domestic ships and 50 percent THC discount for foreign transit containers are only part of incentive packages offered to cargo owners," he said.
"The 87 percent discount on storage cost for transit containers and 75 percent discount on costs of storage for imported containers are another advantages of the port. There is three months exemption for storage costs of mineral cargos and construction materials," he said.
