Kyrgyzstan enhances passenger vehicle imports

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 12. Kyrgyzstan imported 81,235 passenger vehicles from January through July 2024, which is 14 percent more compared to the same period in 2023 (71,005 vehicles).

Data obtained by Trend from the National Committee of Statistics indicated that the value of imports amounted to $1.203 billion, a 6.2 percent increase compared to January through July last year ($1.133 billion).

The largest number of cars were imported from China, with 42,617 cars worth $664 million.

China was the top importer, with 42,617 vehicles valued at $664 million. Second place went to South Korea with 20,281 vehicles valued at $145.8 million, while third place went to the United States with 4,217 vehicles valued at $75.457 million.

To note, Kyrgyzstan's foreign trade turnover from January through July 2024 amounted to $8.8 billion, up 4.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023.

The export supplies took a hit, dropping by 3.7 percent to $1.6 billion, while import receipts saw a silver lining, climbing by 6.7 percent to $7.217 billion.
