DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 7. The Sughd region of Tajikistan saw the launch of 166 new enterprises and workshops in 2024, leading to the creation of 2,060 new jobs, the region’s chairman, Rajabboy Ahmadzoda, announced during a press conference, Trend reports.

Ahmadzoda highlighted that the establishment of these new production facilities is part of preparations for the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.

Authorities in the region have been actively working to attract investment and expand the industrial potential of Sughd. According to him, industrial production in the Sughd region reached 30.4 billion somoni ($2.7 billion) last year, which is a 20.1 percent increase compared to 2023.

Additionally, he noted that efforts to modernize existing enterprises and improve employment levels are ongoing. Future plans include the construction of additional production capacities to increase output and strengthen the region’s export potential.

In 2024, Tajikistan’s industrial output amounted to 53.8 billion somoni ($4.9 billion), which is a 20 percent increase compared to 2023 at constant prices.
