BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 4. The share of national carriers in the bilateral international freight transportation market has increased significantly, and more sustainable competition at the international level has been ensured, Trend reports via the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA).
According to the information, the market share of Azerbaijani carriers in bilateral freight transportation last year totaled 49 percent.
“At the same time, Azerbaijani carriers carry out transit transportation through the territory of our country. If we consider the last 5 years, in 2020 the number of transit transportation of national carriers through the territory of our country amounted to 7,849, and in 2024 to 41,038. We also observe here an increase of more than five times. This type of transportation is also the third in terms of countries carried out by national carriers, which is of particular importance in terms of importing foreign currency into Azerbaijan,” the information notes.
To note, the number of vehicles involved in international transportation increased by 1,066 units in 2024 compared to 2023 and stood at 13,790.
