BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 17. Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan totaled $383.7 million in 2024.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan indicates that this marks a twofold, or $390.2 million, decrease compared to 2023. Trade with Turkmenistan accounted for 0.81 percent of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade volume in 2024.
Azerbaijan's exports to Turkmenistan amounted to $80.2 million, reflecting a 6.8 percent, or $5.9 million, decline compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, imports from Turkmenistan reached $303.5 million, a dramatic drop of 2.3 times, or $384.3 million, year-on-year.
From January through May 2025 alone, the volume of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan amounted to $118.5 million. This is $84.5 million or 41.6 percent less than in the same period of 2024. During the reporting period, trade turnover with Turkmenistan amounted to 0.56 percent of Azerbaijan's total trade turnover.
Meanwhile, from January through May of this year, Azerbaijan exported products to Turkmenistan worth $19.2 million. This is approximately $12.8 million, or 39.9 percent, less than in the same period of 2024.
Moreover, from January through May 2025, Azerbaijan's import operations worth $99.2 million were carried out from Turkmenistan, which is $71.8 million or 42 percent less than the same period last year.
