The government plans to increase income tax has affected the activities of businesses, said a member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce.
"Iranian National Tax Administration is trying to obtain taxes from more companies and even identifying new companies in this regard," said Mehradad Ebad, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"Major part of tax revenues were obtained from companies in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) while some have paid more taxes than previous years. Most companies had negative growth but their income tax increased while the Iranian National Tax Administration has ordered its expert to increase tax between 20 to 25 percent" he added.
The government tax revenues have doubled during the spring of the current Iranian year compared to the last year and reached $12 billion.
About 62 percent of tax revenues in the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) were obtained from direct taxes and 38 percent was from commodity and services taxes. Income tax shared 24.3 percent of the direct tax in the country while wealth tax and tax on individuals were on lower ranks.
Value-added tax and import tax are major parts of commodity taxes that have reduced due to the decline of import in the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) but valued added tax has not reduced despite this decline.
Tax revenues in the spring of the current Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) increased compared to the GDP ratio.
