BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 12. Iran's mobile phone imports decreased by 11.6 percent in value and 26.6 percent in number, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Deputy Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Foroud Asgari said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Asgari, Iran imported more than 3.03 million mobile phones worth about $729 million in 3 months.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, more than 4.13 million mobile phones worth about $824 million were imported into Iran,” he added.

The deputy director noted that over 3 months, Iran imported more than 150,000 mobile phones worth more than $180 million, each of which costs more than $600. This accounted for 24.7 percent of Iran’s total mobile phones imports in value, while 4.9 percent in number for the reporting period.

Asghari also said that a total of 17.7 million mobile phones worth $4.2 billion were imported to Iran within the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). Of this, the price of 1.1 million units worth $1.3 billion was over $600. This accounted for 32.2 percent of Iran’s total mobile phones imports for last year in value and 6.2 percent in number.
