ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 16. The total amount of funds on settlement, current accounts and deposits of enterprises, organizations and the population in Turkmen banks as of August 1 of this year amounted to 40.81 billion Turkmen manat ($11.65 billion), Trend reports.
According to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan, these figures are 7 percent more than on the same date last year (38.15 billion Turkmen manat, or $10.89 billion).
Of the total amount, the funds of state-owned enterprises and organizations accounted for 27.36 billion Turkmen manat ($7.8 billion), which is 22 percent more than on August 1 last year (22.41 billion Turkmen manat, or $6.4 billion).
At the same time, the share of funds from enterprises, non-governmental organizations and the population accounted for 13.45 billion Turkmen manat ($3.84 billion), which is 14.5 percent less than on the same date in 2022 (15.73 billion Turkmen manat or $4.49 billion).
Furthermore, the funds of individuals and entrepreneurs without the formation of a legal entity in the banks of Turkmenistan amounted to 4.17 billion Turkmen manat ($1.19 billion), which is 20.2 percent less than on August 1 last year (5.23 billion Turkmen manat or $1.5 billion).
Meanwhile, the banking sector of Turkmenistan consists of commercial and state-owned banks. State-owned banks often perform important functions in financing large government projects, and the National Bank of Turkmenistan is the central bank of the country and regulates the activities of banks.
