ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 16. Over 12.244 million folks will have a seat at the table when it comes to the referendum on the nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan, Nurlan Abdirov, Chairman of the Central Referendum Commission, told local media, Trend reports.

"More than 10,000 polling stations will be involved. We have compiled and aggregated data on the number of individuals eligible to vote. The total number is 12,244,683," Abdirov said.

In turn, Sabila Mustafina, a member of the Central Election Commission, announced that the referendum will present a key question: "Do you agree with the construction of a nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan?" Voters will have two options: "Yes, I agree" or "No, I do not agree."

Ballots will be printed in both Kazakh and Russian and will be delivered to polling stations no earlier than three days and no later than one day before the vote.

Mustafina noted that the security features of the ballot papers are being established, incorporating various anti-counterfeiting measures such as offset printing, color, and font elements. Details of these security features are classified.

To note, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced on September 1, 2023, that a referendum on the nuclear power plant would be held. The nationwide referendum is scheduled for October 6, 2024.
