BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 23. Kyrgyzstan's service sector has shown impressive growth from January through August 2024, with the gross output reaching 628.6 billion som ($7.4 billion), marking a 5.8 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Data obtained by Trend from the country's National Statistics Committee reveals that retail trade led the charge, expanding by 9.9 percent, while wholesale trade saw a more modest increase of 1.8 percent.
The transportation and cargo storage sector grew by 4.8 percent, bringing its total to 56.3 billion som ($668.6 million). The hospitality industry also experienced significant growth, with revenues from hotels and restaurants rising by 19.9 percent to 22.8 billion som ($270.7 million).
Overall, Kyrgyzstan’s GDP for January through August 2024 reached approximately 798 billion som ($9.4 billion), reflecting a 6.6 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023.
