DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 22. The largest influx of foreign visitors to Tajikistan came from Uzbekistan from January through September 2024, with over 746,000 people, accounting for 61 percent of all arrivals.

Data obtained by Trend from Tajikistan’s Statistics Agency shows that Russians followed as the second largest group, with more than 329,000 visitors, representing 26.9 percent of the total foreign tourist numbers.

Kazakhstan ranked third with nearly 29,000 people, while Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan contributed 4,400 and 4,100, respectively.

Among countries outside the CIS, Tajikistan welcomed 21,600 visitors from China, along with 10,400 from Afghanistan and 9,200 from the US.

Additional visitors included 6,800 from Iran, 6,100 from Türkiye, 5,200 from Germany, and smaller numbers from India and Bangladesh.

The UK and South Korea each sent 2,200 visitors, with France, Japan, Italy, Pakistan, and Poland contributing 2,100 each. 1,900 people arrived from Australia, while Canada contributed around 1,800 people.

Notably, over the first nine months of 2024, Tajikistan hosted more than 1.223 million foreign visitors, an increase of 195,600, or 19 percent, compared to the same period last year. Among them, more than 941,300 were classified as tourists by the World Tourism Organization, reflecting a rise of 17.3 percent from the previous year.
