ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 1. Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan have engaged in discussions regarding the cooperation between their ports, Turkmenbashi, Aktau, and Kuryk, Trend reports via the Turkmenbashi port.
The discussions took place during a working visit by the management of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport to the Port of Aktau, where they conducted a thorough inspection of the port’s infrastructure, operational capabilities, and ongoing activities.
During the visit, the delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the operations of key terminals, the logistics processes, and the potential areas for further development of port infrastructure.
Subsequently, a trilateral working meeting was held with the management of Kazakhstan’s Aktau and Kuryk ports, during which the parties deliberated on matters of enhanced cooperation, the development of transport and logistics routes, and the reinforcement of partnerships in the Caspian region.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) held discussions regarding prospects for collaboration on the modernization of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.
The meeting emphasized the port’s role as a crucial link in the Trans-Caspian transport corridor, with particular focus on improving the current Terminal Operating System (TOS) and implementing a Maritime Single Window (MSW) system, in alignment with a conceptual note presented by the UNDP.
