TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 21. Uzbekistan exported 12,400 tons of apples worth $4.2 million from January through May 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, the export of apples increased by 3,700 tons compared to the same period last year (8,700 tons in 2023).
Among the countries where Uzbekistan exported the largest amount of apples are Kazakhstan - 11,600 tons, Russia - 412 tons and Kyrgyzstan - 162 tons.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan exported 722,100 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $420.1 million from January through May 2024. This figure has increased by 10.4 percent compared to the same period last year (653,800 tons in January–May 2023).
Russia accounted for the largest volume of horticultural product exports from Uzbekistan, with a total volume of 214,900 tons worth $137.4 million. Pakistan ranked second with 86,900 tons of exports worth $82.8 million, followed by Kazakhstan with 231,700 tons of horticultural products exported worth $64.4 million from January through May 2024.
The exports of horticultural products accounted for 3.9 percent of the total volume of Uzbekistan’s exports.
