Russian parliamentarians have decided to allow alcohol back into the Duma's canteen, five years after drinking was banned in the building, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper reported Friday.

The decision comes as the country is once again in the middle of debate about anti-alcohol campaigns, dpa reported. The Duma passed a law of nil tolerance for drink-driving several months ago and banned the nighttime sale of spirits and hard liquors, dpa reported.

Hundreds of thousands of Russians die of the consequences of alcoholism every year.
