Uzbek Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov has held talks with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari during his official visit to Pakistan.
Pakistan attaches great importance to strengthening bilateral and trade relations with Uzbekistan, the president said at the meeting.
He stressed that Pakistan and Uzbekistan should take measures to make full use of bilateral trade and economic potential.
The president believes Uzbekistan could contribute to establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan and the development of a regional transport and energy corridor.
Zardari expressed the country's intention to become a member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and asked Uzbekistan to assist the Pakistan in this regard, media reported.
Recently, Norov held talks with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman General Tariq Majid.
