Azerbaijan, Baku / Т corr I. Alizadeh / Ms. Novella Jafaroghlu, a member of the Monitoring Group of the Azerbaijani Human Rights Organizations, reported on 23 April that the members of the Group had met with the head of the OSCE Baku office, Jose Luis Herrera Ansola.
Discussed at the meeting was the social-political situation in the country, the state of the press, the detention of the editor-in-chief of the Real Azerbaijan and Gundelik Azerbaijan newspapers, Eynulla Fatullayev and the adoption of the Law on Defamation. The head of the OSCE Baku office voiced his concern on the detention of Fatullayev and noted the necessity for the prompt adoption of the Law on Defamation.
Members of the Monitoring Group, Chingiz Ganizadeh, Arzu Abdullayeva, Saadat Bananyarli, and Novella Jafaroghlu were in attendance.
