BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18. The volume of cargo transported along the Azerbaijan segment of the North-South transport corridor in the first quarter of 2025 amounted to 2.44 million tons.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistics Committee indicates
that this metric delineates a marginal escalation of 9,000 tons,
equating to 0.4 percent, in juxtaposition to the corresponding
timeframe in 2024 (2.43 million tons).
It is noteworthy that the aggregate volume of cargo throughput
reached 3.67 million tons via rail modalities, 1.76 million tons
through maritime channels, and 2.55 million tons utilizing
terrestrial routes within Azerbaijan's logistical frameworks during
the specified timeframe.
Transit consignments constituted 46.3 percent of rail freight, 45.2
percent of road logistics, and a remarkable 95.2 percent of
maritime cargo, underscoring Azerbaijan’s sustained significance as
a pivotal transit nexus within the regional supply chain.
