BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. The volume of cargo transported through the Azerbaijani part of the South-West Transport Corridor amounted to 134,700 tons in the first quarter of this year.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that
this indicator shot up by 48,400 tons (56.1 percent) compared to
the same time last year (86,300 tons).
During the specified stretch of time, a whopping 3.67 million tons
of cargo hitched a ride on the rails, while 1.7 million tons sailed
the seas, and 2.5 million tons hit the road in the transport
corridors of Azerbaijan.
Transit cargo made up a hefty 46.3 percent of the total cargo moved
by rail, while road transport carried 45.2 percent, and a whopping
95.2 percent sailed through the seas.
