For the period 2020-2029 Fluxys Belgium's indicative investment plan includes projects for a total amount of €518 million in the transmission network, the Zeebrugge LNG terminal and the Loenhout storage facility, the company told Trend.
Main elements are:
Adjustments to the grid for developments at home and abroad, in particular the conversion of the gas networks for low-calorific natural gas and the construction of new gas-fired power stations to replace the nuclear power stations;
Investments relating to the measures required for the transition to tomorrow's energy mix;
Recurrent investments in the maintenance, adaptation and modernisation of the network;
Investments as part of the action plan at Fluxys Belgium and Fluxys LNG to reduce their proper greenhouse gas emissions.
The company said that €91.3 million have been invested in 2019 by Fluxys Belgium, mainly for the construction of the fifth storage tank at the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Zeebrugge.
Fluxys Belgium is Belgium's independent operator of the high-pressure natural gas transmission network, the natural gas storage infrastructure and the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Zeebrugge.
