Iran could use its close relations with China and strategic ties with Pakistan to export gas to these countries via the IP (Iran-Pakistan) gas pipeline, said researcher at Center for Strategic Studies Vali Kaleji, Trend reports via ILNA.
"Pakistan is planning to build 800 kilometers pipeline from Karachi to Xinjiang and Iran could use the capacity to revive the Peace pipeline and export gas to Pakistan and China, " said Kaleji.
"Iran could revive the IP pipeline, and Pakistan market has considerable demand for energy that creates enough space for both TAPI and IP gas pipeline to work," he said.
"The US sanctions against Iran have pressured India and Pakistan over the IP gas pipeline , the possible opening in US-Iran relations could lead to reducing pressures and Iran could get back to the pipeline construction," he said.
"Iran should solve its problems with Pakistan first and then use the Pakistan route to transfer gas to India. This requires serious negotiations by the Foreign Ministry and Oil Ministry," he said.
"In current situation Iran should strengthen its position in the region by interaction with Pakistan and then move on to next stages," he said.
