It is expected that 2 million tons of imported essential commodities that are currently stored at Iran's ports will be released in the next 45 days, said the head of the Roads and Transportation Organization, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
Dariush Amani has indicated that from the following 2 million tons of imported necessary commodities 1.4 million tons are stored at Imam Khomeini Port.
He noted that so far 11.9 million tons of essential commodity has been released from Iran's ports and a total of 4,000 trucks per day would transport commodities from ports that are expected to increase to 5,000 trucks per day to transport 2 million tons of commodities.
"Total of 92,000 tons of commodities are being transported per day that is expected to increase to 100,000 tons," he explained
"Imam Khomeini Port has the priority in regards to necessary commodities while the storage in Shahid Rajaei and Imam Khomeini ports is in good condition, a 100,000 tons silo is being built by the private sector in Chabahar ports to store commodities," he noted.
Central Bank of Iran (CBI) has supplied about $15 billion for importing basic and essential commodities as well as medicine in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-July 22)
