Transit via Iran's Milak terminal of Sistan and Baluchestan province increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 14. Transit through the Milak border terminal of Sistan and Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran increased by 42 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through August 22, 2023), the Director General of Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan Province Roads and Transportation Authority Ayyoub Kord told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, 257,000 tons of transit products were transported through the Milak border terminal during the five months. The products were transported in 10,159 trucks.

Kord noted that solar batteries, various equipment, spare parts, as well as motor oil, were mainly transported via the Milak border terminal.

He emphasized that an average of 160 trucks are currently passing through the Milak border terminal.

The official added that the increase in transit through the Milak border terminal indicates the growth of trade between Iran and neighboring countries.

To note, a total of 8.6 million tons of transit cargo were transported through Iran by road and railroads during the five months. Transit through Iran by road and railway transport increased by 70.3 percent compared to the same period last year.
