ASTANA, Kazakhstan, June 25. From January through May 2025, 185.5 million tons of cargo were transported by rail in Kazakhstan, which is 14.1 percent more than in the same period last year, Trend reports, citing Kazakhstan Railways.
Based on the data analytics, the freight turnover registered at
138.8 billion ton-kilometers, reflecting a growth trajectory of 9.3
percent relative to the comparative period of January–May in the
preceding year (2024).
"A significant escalation is currently being documented in the
domain of maritime logistics." Between January and May 2025, a
total of 1.6 million tons of freight was mobilized, reflecting a
substantial increase of 43.9 percent compared to the corresponding
timeframe in the previous year. The report indicates that freight
turnover reached 747.9 million ton-kilometers, reflecting a robust
uptick of 14.7 percent," the report states.
Furthermore, the volume of rail passenger throughput within the
nation experienced a marginal contraction of 6.8 percent relative
to the January to May 2024 timeframe, totaling 7.8 million
individuals.
A cumulative throughput of 771.3 million passengers was facilitated
across various transport modalities in Kazakhstan, reflecting a
robust 10.2 percent uptick in volume. Passenger throughput over a
quintet of months experienced an uptick of 12.9 percent relative to
the corresponding timeframe from the previous annum, culminating in
a total of 35.3 billion passenger-kilometers traversed.
In aggregate, the total freight turnover experienced an uptick of
13.6 percent, culminating in a substantial figure of 229.4 billion
ton-kilometers. The aggregate throughput of cargo across all
modalities within the republic reached a staggering 455.9 million
tons, reflecting an uptick of 11.9 percent compared to the same
temporal benchmark from January to May 2024.
