DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, June 11. The portfolio of implemented and ongoing projects by the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) in Tajikistan amounts to $500 million, said EFSD Director Andrei Shirokov during a meeting of Tajikistan's National Development Council, Trend reports.
According to Shirokov, these projects include the rehabilitation of the Nurek hydropower plant, modernization of irrigation systems, the Health Caravan program for disease prevention in remote areas, budget support during the COVID-19 pandemic, social expenditures, and socio-economic reforms.
"In addition to the stated amount, the fund is considering projects totaling over $500 million," Shirokov added.
It was noted that the EFSD's activities support the implementation of Tajikistan's Development Strategy across many priorities, including promoting macroeconomic stability, enhancing institutional capacity, strengthening basic infrastructure in the energy, transportation, and water sectors, and improving the quality and accessibility of education and healthcare.
The EFSD is a regional financial mechanism with a volume of over $9 billion, established in 2009 by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. The goals of the EFSD are to promote economic and financial stability in its member states and support their sustainable development.
