BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18. Uzbekistan’s entrepreneurs are moving from starting businesses to expanding capital and scaling operations, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

This was reflected in the statement on the Official channel of the Press Secretary of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, following an open dialogue with the country’s business community in Khorezm region.

“Today, our entrepreneurs are moving from the stage of ‘starting a business’ to the stage of ‘increasing capital,’” Mirziyoyev said.

Over the past five years, investment by businesses in fixed capital has tripled to 363 trillion soums (about $30.6 billion), reflecting the expansion of private-sector investment and production capacity.

The number of districts where industrial output exceeds $100 million has also increased significantly, rising from 66 to 116 districts, according to data presented during the dialogue.

The services sector has expanded alongside the growth of information technology, fintech and other service industries. The number of districts where services have surpassed 1 trillion soums (around $84.2 million) increased from 41 to 152.

Meanwhile, about 3,500 Uzbek companies are now working with leading international marketplaces, giving local businesses greater access to foreign consumers and markets.

The growth of businesses beyond their initial local operations has also accelerated. More than 550 entrepreneurs who started their businesses in their neighborhoods now operate dozens of branches across Uzbekistan, while more than 300 businesses have created their own national brands.

Mirziyoyev also highlighted the expansion of raw material supplies, including copper, gold, rolled metals, polyethylene, PVC and kaolin. The increased availability of these materials has supported major growth in industries such as electrical engineering, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, textiles and furniture manufacturing.

At the same time, new industries have emerged, including electric vehicle manufacturing, polymers, household chemicals, green energy and jewelry production.

Modern automotive plants such as BYD, ADM Jizzakh and Sirdaryo Asaka Motors have brought new technologies and industrial expertise to Uzbekistan, further strengthening the country’s manufacturing base.

The president’s remarks underscore the government’s focus on helping Uzbek businesses move beyond small-scale operations toward larger investments, stronger brands and higher-value industrial production.
