Iran shares funds allotted for agricultural facilities in Sistan and Baluchestan Province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. A sum of 16.4 trillion rials (about $28.4 million) has been allocated for the development of 696 agricultural facilities in the country's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Alireza Dehmardeh, director of the provincial Agricultural Department, told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, 5,910 people will be employed with the commissioning of the facilities.

''The province, known for its unique climate, offers abundant investment opportunities across a range of agricultural sectors, including horticulture, farming, fishing, and livestock. Sistan and Baluchestan is a key producer of dates, pomegranates, mangoes, papayas, sapodilla, grapes, figs, and pistachios,'' he added.

To note, Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan provinces are located close to the equator, so there are favorable conditions for growing unique fruits. It is possible to grow one crop twice a year in this province. Nowadays, more than 200,000 ha of agricultural land lies in the Sistan and Balochestan provinces. Some 80,000 ha of it is occupied by orchards.
