BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 13. Cargo handling at Amirabad Port, located in the northern Mazandaran Province, has increased by 7 percent in the past Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), the Director-General of the Amirabad Port and Maritime Administration, Mohammad-Ali Musapour-Gorji, Trend reports.
Musapour-Gorji noted that the port handled a total of 5.04 million tons of cargo during this period.
The official stated that Amirabad Port accounts for 57 percent of all cargo handling in the northern ports of Iran.
He also noted that to boost and diversify exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, Iran increased exports via the Amirabad Port by 1.51 million tons compared to the previous year. The port primarily exports cement, construction materials, ceramics, and metal products.
Iran's ports, in total, handled 235 million tons of cargo in the past Iranian year.
