Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 16/ Trend , B. Hasanov/ MP from Turkey's governing Justice and Development Party (AKP) support discussions between Azerbaijan and Turkey's political parties.
"As a MP from the governing party, I would like to be involved in cooperation with Azerbaijan's political parties," Jalal Erbay, MP from Turkey's governing party and member of Turkey-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group, said to Trend by telephone from Ankara.
Six parties represented in the Azerbaijani parliament - Ana Vatan, United Azerbaijan Popular Party, Great Establishment, Democratic Reforms Party and Umid (Hope) Party have agreed to hold a meeting with Turkey's political parties.
"We plan to hold conference of Azerbaijani and Turkish political parties in Baku," said MP Fazail Agamali, chief of Ana Vatan Party who initiated the meeting.
Meetings between political parties of the two countries are due to Turkey-Armenia ties. Azerbaijan and Turkey's political parties will meet to eliminate concerns in both societies.
Armenian-Turkish ties have been severed since 1993 because of Armenia's false "genocide" claims and occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani lands. Turkish President Abdullah Gul visited Yerevan on September 6, 2008 at the invitation of his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sarkisyan to watch Armenia-Turkey football match within the European Cup. Efforts have been made since then to normalize ties between the two countries.
Erbay described contact, cooperation and dialogue with all organizations on a wide range of issues as useful.
"Such cooperation brings two countries with common roots closer," Erbay added. Turkish MP said political parties of both countries are ready for cooperation.
