( CM ) - THE SPICE GIRLS svengali and AMERICAN IDOL creator SIMON FULLER was honoured by PRINCE CHARLES and British Prime Minister GORDON BROWN at the Producer's Guild Awards on Saturday (02Feb08). Both statesmen taped video messages of praise for the music mogul, which were played as Fuller picked up the Visionary Award for the "unique and uplifting quality" of his work at the Los Angeles ceremony. In his message, Prince Charles praised Fuller for his charity work, stating, "He has been one of the most effective and generous ambassadors for my (Prince's) Trust, which I set up 32 years ago to help the most disadvantaged young people in the United Kingdom. "There are many young people... whose lives have been transformed and, in some cases, saved, literally, thanks to the contribution which Simon has made." Gordon Brown added, "The stars he has discovered or managed have gone on to huge success around the world, from the Spice Girls to David Beckham. "His idea was that in small towns across the world, people living ordinary lives have extraordinary talent, and all they would need is the courage and the chance to show what they could do. "He knew that in Britain, America, all around the world, TV audiences would be not just entertained but inspired by these people making the most of their talents."
