BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. Azerbaijan experienced a whirlwind of activity in the air freight sector from January to February 2025, with the value of goods soaring to a staggering $1.7 billion, as 2,200 tons of cargo took to the skies.
Data obtained by Trend from the State Customs Committee indicates that this represents an increase of $1.4 billion, or 5.8 times, in value and a 78-ton, or 3.6 percent, increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
During this period, goods worth $1.6 billion, totaling 2,100 tons, were imported via air transportation to Azerbaijan, showing an increase of $1.4 billion (6 times) in value and 189 tons (9.8 percent) in volume compared to January-February 2024.
Moreover, goods worth $54.9 million, or 131 tons, were exported by air during the reporting period, representing a $37.4 million (3.1 times) increase in value but a decrease of 112 tons (46.1 percent) in volume compared to the previous year.
Additionally, across all modes of transportation, a total of $8.9 billion worth of 10.6 million tons of cargo were moved, marking a growth of $1.7 billion (23.2 percent) in value and an increase of 678,700 tons (6.8 percent) in volume compared to the same period in 2024.
