ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 13. Freight transportation on the Kazakhstan Railways network amounted to 85 million tons from January through April 2025, Trend reports.
According to Kazakhstan Railways, 54.6 million tons of this volume were transported domestically, while 30.4 million tons were exported, which is 12.7 percent more compared to the same period in 2024.
“In the first four months of 2025, 34 million tons of coal were transported, which is 1.1 percent more than in the same period last year. Of this volume, 24 million tons were delivered to domestic consumers in Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, coal exports increased by 22 percent, reaching 10 million tons,” the statement said.
Moreover, from January through April 2025, there was growth in the transportation of other types of cargo: oil cargoes - up 7 percent (to 6.6 million tons), ferrous metals - up 10.6 percent (to 1.5 million tons), chemical fertilizers - up 20.8 percent (to 1.6 million tons), and construction materials - up 8 percent (to 4.3 million tons).
Grain transportation in Kazakhstan also showed significant growth, increasing by 54 percent to 4.7 million tons. Grain exports rose by 60 percent, reaching 3.7 million tons.
